Bosco College of Teacher Education, Dimapur, organised the Inaugural Function for the B.Ed. 2026–2028 batch on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, at 9.00 a.m. The programme marked the formal beginning of the academic journey of the new first-semester student teachers. It was an occasion of joy, welcome and hope as the new students entered a new phase of their academic and professional formation.
The programme began with Bible Reading and Prayer led by Fr. Blasius. The prayerful beginning set a meaningful tone for the occasion and sought God’s guidance and blessings for the new academic year. As the students prepare to become teachers, the beginning of their journey with prayer reminded them of the importance of dedication, responsibility and service in the teaching profession.
This was followed by a message from Fr. M. P. Thomas, Counsellor of the College. His message provided encouragement and guidance to the new student teachers as they began their B.Ed. programme. The occasion gave the students an opportunity to reflect on the significance of teacher education and the responsibilities they will carry as future educators.
A Welcome Song by Sr. Florence and the team added warmth and joy to the programme. It expressed the College community’s happiness in welcoming the new batch and helped create a friendly and positive atmosphere for the students.
One of the important segments of the programme was the self-introduction of the new student teachers. The first group of 50 students introduced themselves by sharing their name, degree, subject, home state and district. After the special number, the remaining students continued with their introductions.
The self-introduction session was an excellent opportunity for the students to know one another. Coming from different places and academic backgrounds, they were able to begin building new friendships and relationships. The interaction also reflected the diversity of the new batch and encouraged a spirit of fellowship and mutual understanding.
The programme was further enriched by a Special Number presented by Sr. Tavilu and the team. The presentation brought a lively and cultural element to the occasion and added to the joy of the inaugural gathering.
The teachers of the College then introduced themselves, sharing their names, degrees, subjects, home states and districts. This session enabled the new students to become familiar with the faculty members who would guide and support them during their B.Ed. programme.
The programme continued with an address by Dr. Jose Joseph, Principal of the College. The Principal’s speech provided an important orientation to the students as they began their professional course. The students were encouraged to make the best use of their opportunities, approach their studies with dedication and develop themselves as responsible and competent future teachers.
After a five-minute short break, the programme concluded with attendance, information and clarification regarding the academic programme and other matters. This session helped the new students receive necessary information and clarify their initial concerns. The programme was efficiently coordinated by Rose M. Lotha, Master of Ceremony.
The inaugural function was a significant and memorable beginning for the B.Ed. 2026–2028 batch. It brought students and teachers together and created an atmosphere of welcome, fellowship and enthusiasm. With hearts full of hope and minds ready to learn, the new student teachers have begun a journey of growth, discovery and professional formation.
