For the Best Interest of the College

ADMISSION POLICY

The selection process for B.Ed. admissions in all Teacher Education Institutions in Nagaland is conducted by Nagaland University. The university allocates 90% seats, while an additional 10%  seats are reserved for the Management Quota. The following outlines the detailed admission procedure:

  1. Department Meeting: The Department of Teacher Education at Nagaland University organizes a meeting with all the principals of B.Ed. colleges to discuss and coordinate the admission process. 
  1. Advertisement: An advertisement is published in the newspaper to inform prospective students about the B.Ed. program, application process, and important dates.
  2. Online Application: The commencement of filling up online application forms marks the official start of the admission process. Applicants can submit their details and documents online.
  3. Submission Deadline: There is a specified last date for filling up and submitting the online application forms. Candidates must ensure they complete the application process by this deadline.
  4. Admit Cards: Admit cards for the entrance test are issued to the candidates who have successfully submitted their application forms. These cards contain essential information about the test venue and timings.
  5. Entrance Test: The entrance test is conducted on a specified date and time. This test assesses the candidates’ aptitude and knowledge required for the B.Ed. program.
  6. Result Declaration: Results of the entrance test are declared, and successful candidates are notified. The results are also made available online for candidates to check.
  7. Document Verification and Seat Allotment: Candidates who pass the entrance test are required to undergo document verification. Seats are then allotted based on merit and availability.
  8. Admission Lists: The list of selected students is sent to the respective colleges. These students are then required to complete the admission formalities at their allotted colleges.
  9. Academic Session Commencement: The academic session for the newly admitted B.Ed. students commences as per the schedule. Students begin their journey towards becoming qualified educators.

LEAVE POLICY

The guidelines and regulations regarding various types of leave available to our staff members are outlined. Our leave policy ensures that all employees understand the procedures for requesting leave and the conditions under which leave may be granted. It is important to note that leave is not a right but a privilege that requires proper authorization and adherence to the following rules.

1.0 General Leave Guidelines

1.1 Leave shall not be claimed as a matter of right. A leave letter must be submitted in advance, and approval must be obtained prior to availing the leave. A staff member shall not normally or on any pretence absent themselves from their duties without prior permission from their Principal or the authorized authority.

1.2 In case of absence on medical grounds, intimation should be sent to the Principal/Designated Authority within 12 hours of the start of medical treatment. A medical certificate shall be produced at the time of rejoining after leave.

1.3 Leave of any kind will not be sanctioned when the services of the staff are needed for college work or when there is an unfinished job involving the employee.

1.4 If an employee fails to arrive on the reopening day after terminal/summer/winter holidays without prior permission, the leave taken without sanction will be considered as pay cut leave. Repeated instances of such leave will result in a serious warning.

2.0 Casual Leave (CL)

2.1 All employees are eligible for 12 days of casual leave per year, accruing at a rate of 1 day per month during the academic year. Any leave other than casual leave can be applied for, but it may be considered as leave without pay.

2.2 An additional leave in a month may be applied for and may be considered as leave without pay.

2.3 A non-informal leave (leave taken without sanction) may be considered as pay cut leave (one casual leave and one day’s pay lost). Permission for short absences not exceeding one hour on any working day may be granted. Three such permissions in a month may be considered as half-day leave.

  1. Vacation Leave (VL) for Teaching Staff

The total number of vacation leave days for faculty members (teaching staff) is limited to 30 days for a continuous service of 12 months in the institution, as per the institution’s schedule.

  1. Maternity Leave (ML)

4.1 A woman employee of the institution who has completed at least one year of continuous and satisfactory service, after the completion of the probation period, is eligible for maternity leave with pay for a maximum of 90 days, inclusive of intervening holidays and Sundays, from the date of delivery or from the commencement of leave applied for, whichever is earlier, subject to prior approval from the Principal/Designated Authority.

4.2 Any excess leave taken beyond the stipulated maternity leave shall be considered as leave on Loss of Pay (LOP).

ENERGY CONSERVATION POLICY

The College particularly focuses on energy conservation and green initiatives with an inclusive perspective. To promote this goal, the college ensures the sensible efforts are made. The college believes in inculcating a sense of responsibility and accountability among teacher trainees in conserving nature. Each student teacher will be in turn representing this noble cause by being an inspiration to thousands of students in the future. In this regard, the college has formulated policies comprehensively and initiated several measures that are consistently performed. The college follows the below practices to endorse the energy conservation.  

  • The College will abide by the regulatory compliance and follows cost effective measures.
  • All the stakeholders namely students, teachers, officials, and non-teaching staff will volunteer in energy conservation practices.
  • The college administrator will be responsible for proper execution of energy conservation measures. Appropriate records are to be maintained by the college regarding the energy consumption.
  • The College has installed solar grid having 30 panels that is capable of generating 10 Kilo watt energy. The college utilize solar energy wherever possible to reduce the consumption of electricity as a measure to conserve energy.
  • To ensure the safety of the stakeholders in the college as well as the environment, preventive measures regarding fire and electricity will be checked at regular intervals.
  • The campus gradually upgraded from incandescent lights to compact fluorescent light (CFL). Now again shifting from CFL to Light-emitting diode (LED) lights.
  • Optimal use of electrical and electronic devices is given importance for their efficiency and longevity. The electrical appliances are switched off when not in use. All the electrical equipment are replaced by low power consuming and high efficient devices.
  • Buildings are construction in such a way that enhance the natural light and airflow, reducing the need for electricity.
  • Sign boards and directions boards are place wherever possible to prompt the students and staffs to switch of the electrical equipment when not in use.
  • The students and staff are requested to report issues immediately for the timely rectification.
  • For a pollution free environment, the staff members and students are encouraged to use bicycles to commute within the campus and adopt car-pooling whenever possible. This helps to save fuel and reduce carbon emission.

The college is the regional member (from Dimapur) in the Don Bosco Green Alliance, an international Green Salesian Movement contributing to global environmental action, thought, and policy since 2018. RECRUITMENT POLICY FOR FACULTY POSITION

The recruitment policy for faculty positions at Bosco College of Teacher Education is designed to ensure a transparent, fair, and merit-based selection process. The college adheres to the norms set by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and follows a systematic procedure to fill vacant positions. The process involves advertising, scrutinizing applications, conducting a thorough selection process, and finally appointing the most suitable candidates.

Faculty Recruitment Procedure:

Advertisement:

Job vacancies are advertised in local dailies, national newspapers, and on the college website to reach a broad audience.

Determining Vacancies:

The number of vacant positions is determined based on the norms provided by NCTE.

Scrutinizing Applications:

A Scrutiny Committee, constituted by the principal, reviews the applications received for the staff positions.

Selection Committee:

The Selection Committee is comprised of:

  • Chairman or Vice Chairman of the Governing Body
  • The Principal & Secretary of the college
  • A representative from Nagaland University

Mode of Selection:

Candidates are interviewed and evaluated based on the following criteria:

  1. a) Qualification – 20 Marks
  2. b) Presentation – 10 Marks
  3. c) Communication Skills – 10 Marks
  4. d) Subject Knowledge – 10 Marks

Appointment:

Selected candidates are informed and issued appointment orders upon accepting the terms and conditions.

Candidates must report on the specified date and submit photostat copies of the following certificates in colour:

  1. i) Admit Card, Marksheets, and Certificate of Class X
  2. ii) Admit Card, Marksheets, and Certificate of Class XII
  3. iii) Admit Card, Marksheets, and Certificate of Undergraduate Degree
  4. iv) ST/SC Certificate if applicable
  5. v) Relieving orders if applicable

Probation Period:

The appointed candidates will undergo a probation period of one year. They may be reappointed for another year or appointed permanently based on their performance.

This recruitment policy ensures that the selection process is comprehensive, emphasizing qualifications, presentation skills, communication abilities, subject knowledge, and achievements, thereby maintaining high standards in faculty recruitment.

POLICY DOCUMENT ON PROVIDING FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO TEACHERS FOR ATTENDING SEMINARS/CONFERENCES/WORKSHOPS/TRAINING

The policy of providing financial support to the teachers is in force in order to attend seminars, conferences, workshops, or any training program organized by the Institute of National Repute, Universities, and Colleges, and towards membership fees of professional bodies.  

Objectives:

  • To encourage the teaching faculty to present research papers in seminars/conferences of National and International Repute.
  • To support the teaching staff by availing the opportunity to discuss novel development, emerging challenges, and future perspectives in the field of interest.
  • To support the teaching staff in promoting teaching-learning, research extension activities, and governance through participation in seminars, conferences, workshops, or any training program.
  • To enhance their academic credential in line with expectations.

POLICY

  • A faculty-staff deputed for seminars, conferences, workshops, or any training program shall be assisted with required finance on submission of the original bills.
  • The leave shall be considered as ‘Leave on Duty’.
  • If a faculty-staff wishes to enroll in any workshop, or a training program, an application must be submitted to the office of the Principal seeking approval for ‘Paid Leave’, and financial assistance be provided if needed.
  • The leave and financial support will be given as per the decision of the management.
  • Financial incentives will be given to those who present papers for publication of articles and books as fixed by the management.

POLICY DOCUMENT ON PROMOTION OF RESEARCH

BCTE aims to foster a research culture among the faculty and students. Long-term research serves as the institution’s cornerstone for future development. The research policy of the college seeks to cultivate and enhance the scientific temperament and research aptitude of all learners realizing the vision and mission of the college. It also identifies research areas of academic, practical, and socially relevant significance thus contributing to national development. It also attempts to guarantee that the college’s research endeavors adhere to the established standards and norms for the safe and ethical conduct of research as well as to all applicable rules and regulations of the affiliating University and NCTE. Our research policy provides a broad framework for the research activities with the following objectives:

Objectives:

  • To provide proper coordination of all research activities of the college and align these to the vision and mission of the college as well as the aims of national development through the research committee.
  • To identify and inform researchers of relevant research opportunities announced by various research, academic, industry, or government organizations.
  • To promote interdisciplinary research.
  • To create an awareness about patents and Intellectual Property Rights and encourage them to apply for patents.
  • To identify and establish linkages including MOUs for long-term relationships with national and international research organizations for widening the scope of research opportunities and funding options available to the faculty and students of the college.
  • To promote collaborations with International and National academic institutions of higher learning and strengthen ties and business.
  • To promote and facilitate the publication of research findings in reputable academic International/National academic journals; faculty members whose papers are published receive incentives.
  • To make it easier for research findings to be presented at academic events such as seminars/conferences/workshops.
  • To facilitate community-oriented research initiatives and to transfer the research findings for the social and economic development of the community.

 

 

E-GOVERNANCE POLICY

Scope:

The following areas fall under the scope of this policy:

Objectives:

  • Implementation of e-governance in all aspects of its operations to create a more straightforward and effective system of governance within the college.
  • To encourage accountability and transparency in all college operations.
  • To encourage and achieve a paperless environment in the college.
  • To provide quick and easy access to information.
  • To make classrooms ICT-enabled with a microphone, laptops, projectors, etc.
  • To make campus Wi-Fi enabled.

It is determined to adopt and execute e-governance in all college functions to provide a more straightforward and effective method of governance inside the school. In several operational areas, the organization has already begun using e-governance. A portion of the institution’s operations, including admissions, the library, academics, exams, accounts, etc., have already begun using e-governance. In the meantime, we intend to introduce e-governance in a few more domains later on.

  • Academics: The course content, lecture notes, and assessment data are digitally maintained. Google Applications like Google Classroom, Google Meet, Google Forms, Google Docs are used by the teachers.
  • Library: The college library is linked to the NList which enables the students and teachers to register themselves and to access the digital library easily and even remotely.
  • Administration: The college has social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. For official communication within and outside the college, email and messenger apps like WhatsApp are used. Tally and MS Excel is used to maintain the administrative data.
  • Student Admission: The collection of fees from the student is done mainly through an online banking system.
  • Examination: The communication between the college and the affiliating university (Nagaland University) regarding internal assessment and end-semester university examination is highly transparent and online.

Waste Management Policy

SCOPE

The college aims to follow sustainable means (at economic, environmental, and social levels) for waste management to meet the present needs without compromising future resources. As a first measure, the college formulated a waste management policy. Staff and students are encouraged and guided to adopt healthier practices for managing waste and maintaining a pollution-free environment.

  • Separate waste bins are used to collect bio-degradable and non-biodegradable wastes.
  • The campus is cleaned regularly, and waste is collected and sorted into bio-degradable and non-biodegradable waste.
  • Biogas plant is used to convert the food waste and cow dung into biogas.
  • Vermicomposting is carried out to convert the bio-degradable waste and the obtained manure is used for
  • Slogans and signage on waste management are placed appropriately.
  • The external agents are approached to dispose of/ recycle non-biodegradable waste materials.
  • All the electrical and electronic devices will be used efficiently and well-maintained. Also, the issues that arise will be attended to immediately.
  • To dispose/ recycle the e-waste materials MoU will be signed with the vendors or agents and the same is followed.
  • The College implemented a practice of repurposing single-sided used papers for drafting purposes, which are otherwise destined for disposal.

Green Initiative Policy

BCTE aims to create a sustainable and eco-friendly ambience for which the college takes many green initiatives. Teachers and students are encouraged to adopt sustainable practices towards conserving energy and maintain the campus pollution free to support the welfare of mankind and the ecosystem. The college performs the following practices.

  • The green cover offered by huge trees and natural landscaping is conserve.
  • The campus is kept clean and hygienic and the college follows waste management steps namely Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
  • Students’ attitude towards waste management is enriched by skill development programs.
  • Students volunteer in the environment cleaning activities in and around the college.
  • Solar energy and biogas production are the alternative sources of energy implemented in the college.
  • Recharging the groundwater via rainwater harvesting system is followed.
  • Plastic usage is banned in the college campus. Use of eco-friendly materials like cloth or jute bags and paper plates are encouraged.
  • Efficient means is used to dispose and recycle the e-wastes materials.
  • Electrical and electronic equipment are used optimally, and well-maintained.
  • Teachers and students are encouraged to use bicycles to commute within the campus.
  • Switching over to e-transaction and maintaining paperless ambience.

Water Management Policy

The College has two bore wells that meet the water needs adequately. As a part of the Green Initiative, the college aims to conserve water resources and implement sustainable practices. For the same, the below policies were formulated;

  • The college will ensure to preservation of natural water systems like ponds, and groundwater.
  • As the bamboos in and around the campus are well maintain the groundwater level is enrich.
  • A rainwater harvesting system is established to recharge the groundwater level.
  • The leaks and issues will be addressed immediately.
  • Signage and direction boards are placed in appropriate places to avoid water wastage.
  • The domestic wastewater is used for gardening purposes.
  • The awareness programs on water conservation will be regularly conducted.
