Bosco College of Teacher Education organized a Cyber Security Awareness Programme at its
Multipurpose Hall in collaboration with the National Institute of Electronics and Information
Technology (NIELIT), Dimapur, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the
college. The programme witnessed the active participation of both staff and students,
reflecting the institution’s commitment to promoting digital safety and responsible online
behavior.

The session featured a distinguished team of resource persons, including Mr. Tia Temjen
from the State Bank of India and Mr. Daniel Meren, Additional Director of NIELIT,
Dimapur. He was accompanied by Mr. Vekutu (WBL Intern), Mr. Kimatsung (WBL Intern),
and Mr. Inohoto, Technical Assistant at NIELIT Dimapur.
In his address, Mr. Daniel Meren emphasized the growing importance of cyber vigilance in
today’s digitally connected world. He elaborated on the increasing instances of cybercrime,
online fraud, phishing attacks, identity theft, and data breaches, urging participants to remain
cautious while using digital platforms. Practical guidelines were shared to help safeguard
personal information, banking details, and institutional data from cyber threats.
A key highlight of the programme was the introduction of the ICSAS (Initiative for Cyber
Security Aware Society in North-Eastern States) mobile application, developed by National
Institute of Electronics and Information Technology. The resource person demonstrated how
the application can be used to learn fundamental cyber security concepts. Participants were
informed that they could earn certificates upon successful completion of the course modules,
which would add value to their academic and professional profiles.
The session also included real-life case studies and examples of common digital scams,
making the programme both practical and relatable. Through interactive discussions and
demonstrations, participants gained a clearer understanding of digital footprints and the long-
term implications of online activities.
The programme concluded successfully, leaving the participants better informed and
equipped to navigate the digital world with greater awareness, responsibility, and confidence.
