Celebration of International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day was celebrated across the globe on 8th March 2026 under the campaign theme “Give to Gain”. In alignment with this global vision, Bosco College of Teacher Education, Dimapur observed ‘IWD 2026’ on the 9th of March 2026. The program was conducted amicably in the multipurpose hall at BCTE. The program was conducted successfully in the BCTE multipurpose hall, commencing at 9:10 am immediately following the morning assembly.

A unique highlight of the celebration was its focus on engaging men, the key allies in the Give to Gain mission, by providing them a platform to share their perspectives and tribute to women’s contributions. The program commenced with a speech by Mr. Gundailung, a second-semester student teacher. Acknowledging the grace and strength of women, he emphasized that rather than recounting the achievements of famous global icons, it is vital to celebrate the women among us. Both victories and failures have shaped women significantly. He honoured the women teachers and teacher-trainees on choosing the noblest profession for societal growth. He expressed that God perfected the world by creating Eve and concluded the speech with a passage from the Bible.

Following this, Fr. M. P. Thomas delivered the presidential address. He shared some real-life incident he had encountered in which harassing women were treated as something common and they were expected to endure it. He insisted that students should respect their mothers and also other women around them and taking initiatives to celebrate them. He aptly quoted that educating a man benefits only the individual; but educating a women benefited the entire family, ultimately, society as a whole.

Concluding the program, Dr. M. Poorani elucidated the core principles of the IWD theme, ‘Give to Gain’ that focuses on reciprocity. She beautifully bridged the theme with Mahakavi Subramanya Bharathi’s iconic verses, Nimirtha Nannadai, Nerkonda Paarvaiyum, celebrating the modern woman’s integrity and courage. She insisted that Dignity, Courage, and Wisdom make righteous women unshakable. The event drew to a close with her delivering the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the day’s success.
