Bosco College of Teacher Education commemorated its 22nd Foundation Day combined with Cultural Day on March 21, 2025, in the college’s Multipurpose Hall. The event, which began at 9:30 a.m., was meticulously organized with Vekhotolu Lohe serving as the Master of Ceremonies.
The ceremony commenced with the formal entry of teaching and non-teaching faculty at 9:40 a.m. Vekhotulu presided over the ceremony, opening with a Bible reading from Psalms 37:5-6, while Khiutalak led the invocation prayer.
The celebration featured a choir performance of “Jesus, the Very Thought of Thee,” performed by the students. This musical interlude was followed by a group photo session with faculty members and students.
College counsellor Fr. M.P. Thomas delivered a thought-provoking welcome address, reflecting on the college’s journey and emphasizing that “Culture is the soul of a person.” He addressed the importance of appreciating different cultures while cautioning against forgetting one’s heritage through westernization. Fr. Thomas encouraged attendees to discard negative cultural elements while embracing and taking pride in positive aspects.
Students showcased their artistic talents through dramatic performances beginning with “The Merchant of Venice” by 2nd Semester Section A students, exploring themes of justice versus mercy, prejudice, and wisdom. The second group performed “The Story of Ramphan,” of the Kyong Lotha community highlighting bravery and justice.
Section B students presented excerpts from “Macbeth” (Acts 1, 2, and 3), delving into ambition, fate, guilt, and the supernatural, followed by the Naga folktale “Momola and the River Spirit,” of the Chang tribe which explored themes of love, supernatural forces, and fate.
A slideshow presentation chronicled the college’s 22-year history and how the college has evolved since the inception.
Principal Dr. Fr. Jose Joseph delivered the closing address, thanking students for their contributions to the event’s success. He also highlighted how this institution has regularly formed dedicated teachers for the state of Nagaland and abroad. Sr. Susmita Minj offered the benediction, after which refreshments were served. The celebration successfully embodied the institution’s spirit of unity and cultural pride.
