Bosco college of Teacher Education celebrated the International Yoga Day on 21st June 2021 virtually, with the theme ‘Be With Yoga, Be At Home’ as per the guidelines given by University Grants Commission. The international community observes Yoga Day, recognising the many benefits of the ancient Indian practice of yoga. The year 2021 marks the 7th annual International Yoga Day. Yoga is considered as the ancient Indian art of healthy living and it intends to unite the body and mind to bring harmony. It has found popularity in other countries as well. The first International Day of Yoga was celebrated on 21st June, 2015 after its inception at the United Nations General Assembly.
Practice of yoga does a lot of good for human body. It increases flexibility, helps to build strength, improves posture, keeps joints healthy, reduces stress, and lowers blood pressure. Yoga also helps students in many ways. It reduces and eliminates stress. The most popular reason that people begin taking yoga classes is to reduce stress of the students. It also helps them to reduce conflicts and improve concentration. It helps to make healthier life choices as well. The staff and the students of Bosco college of Teacher Education celebrated seventh International Day of Yoga virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic. They have done yoga in their own apartments to mark the International Yoga Day. The students are also given yoga classes in the college.
