Bosco college of Teacher Education organized on a webinar on Thursday 10th June 2021 on the topic, “A NEW VISION IN EDUCATION:  NEP 2020-ISSUES AND CHALLENGES”. Prof. (Dr.) Marion Mathew C. J, Head and Dean, Allahabad School of Education, Shuats University, Allahabad was the resource person. The Central Government announced the New Education Policy 2020 which brings about several major reforms in education in India. Among the major reforms, the 10+2 structure in the schooling system has been replaced by a 5+3+3+4 structure. It will include 12 years of schooling and three years of Anganwadi and pre-schooling. The policy envisages broad based, multi-disciplinary, holistic Under Graduate education with flexible curricula, creative combinations of subjects, integration of vocational education and multiple entry and exit points with appropriate certification. The National Education Policy, 2020 is meant to provide an overarching vision and comprehensive framework for both school and higher education across the country.

The webinar concentrated on the some of the visions of NEP 2020 like providing high quality education to all, instilling skills, values and internal attitude to understand human rights and commitment of every person to the society. It emphasises on a uniform educational system throughout the country. It also mentioned about the curriculum and pedagogy which are to be integrated by making it more holistic and enjoyable. The policy gives importance to the talents and innate abilities of the learners. Digitalized pedagogy and class room, self-reliant India, sustainable developmental goals etc. are some of the key areas discussed during the webinar. Major reforms will be based on knowledge application and training the students for livelihood through vocational courses.

Around 100 participants (including the staff and the students) attended the webinar on virtual mode through google meet. It was an interactive, educative and inspiring experience for the participants. Some of the staff and the students asked various questions to clarify their doubts regarding the implementation of the Education Policy.
