From Wounds to Wellness: Bosco College Hosts Prayer Session

A profound atmosphere of peace and serenity enveloped Bosco College of Teacher Education as students concluded a transformative two-day Praise and Worship session that combined Biblical Teaching with intensive Inner Healing Ministry.

The Prayer experience, held on July 28-29, was led by Fr. Jerry V.M, SDB, who guided students through a journey of spiritual discovery and emotional restoration. The program drew significant participation from the college’s B.Ed students, many of whom experienced visible transformation by the session’s end.

Opening with a powerful biblical reflection on how young people can receive the gift of the Holy Spirit and spiritual charisms, Fr. Jerry established a strong scriptural foundation for the weekend’s activities. His teaching centered on John 9:1-12, using the healing narrative to address contemporary spiritual challenges faced by youth.

“Young people today need to understand how to break free from patterns that keep them trapped,” explained Fr. Jerry during his opening session. “Just like the man by the pool at Siloam in scripture, we often become comfortable with our struggles.”

Fr. Jerry’s most impactful message came through his analogy of the biblical man who waited by the pool for healing. He drew striking parallels between the man’s situation and modern spiritual struggles, explaining how people often fall back into sinful patterns and comfort zones despite opportunities for transformation.

“The man remained there for years because others would reach the healing waters first, and he would return to the same old place,” Fr. Jerry illustrated. “Similarly, we get used to our sins and comfort zones, struggling to break free from cycles that keep us spiritually stagnant.”

The first day’s afternoon session took on a more interactive tone as Fr. Jerry, joined by Fr. Santosh Mundu, conducted engaging bible games and activities. These sessions created a joyful learning environment while reinforcing the morning’s spiritual teachings.

The program’s second day was entirely dedicated to inner healing sessions, with Fr. M.P Thomas, the college Counselor, providing additional spiritual support.  Students participated in individual prayer sessions, group healing prayers, and personal reflection time. The integration of spiritual guidance with professional counseling created a safe space for participants to address past wounds and emotional barriers.

As these future teachers prepare to shape young minds, their own experience of healing and spiritual renewal will undoubtedly influence their approach to education and student care. The program’s impact extends beyond personal transformation to potentially benefit countless students these educators will teach in their careers.
