The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) was introduced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India in 2016. The ICC is established to prevent, prohibit, and redress sexual harassment of women students and employees in higher education institutions.
The ICC was established under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013. The Act requires that every workplace have an ICC, that the committee be headed by a woman, and that at least half of its members be women. BCTE has the ICC since 2022 and any issue raised by the women teachers or students is given utmost priority.
Objectives of ICC:
• Developing a policy against sexual harassment.
• Creating a safe and self-confident environment for women and girls.
• Facilitating the redressal of grievances.
• Preventing discrimination and sexual harassment.
• Dealing with cases of sexual harassment and discrimination promptly.
