The one day workshop on Awareness on Gender sensitization organized by Dimapur District Administration and Sankalp- District Hub for empowerment of women (DHEW), Dimapur was held on 7th August, 2024 at the Lecture Hall, Bosco College of Teacher Education (BCTE). The programme started at 11:00 AM and was chaired by Ms. Lanusangla Jamir, District Mission Coordinator, DHEW.
A welcome note was given by Father Jose Joseph, Principal, BCTE where he introduced and welcomed the resource persons showing appreciation on the organized session/ workshop.
After the welcome note, a brief highlights and all the components of Mission Shakti was shared by Ms. Lichebeni Yanthan, Gender Specialist, DHEW. She highlighted Mission Shakti and Sankalp as the components and further elaborated on the schemes such as Samarthya , Shakti Sadan, Sakhi Niwas, PMMVY, Women Helpline 181 etc, available under them.
Ms. Dhonthaidi Langthasa, Gender Specialist, DHEW presented a talk on Gender Sensitization where she highlighted on the reasons of why it is of paramount to sansitize the gender equality in the country. Langthasa shared some cases of violence and trafficking, cultural practices, school dropouts etc based on Nagaland and how the District Administration is making a move to create a balance , just and progressive society while educating individuals and society. Lastly, she encouraged the students and teachers alike to take a step in creating a safe environment for everyone and ended the talk with the statement, “Drops of water makes the ocean”.
The session came to an end where students were given the opportunity to raise queries where the resource persons enthusiastically answered.
Lastly, the program ended with a vote of thanks from the chairperson where she thanked the institution.
