Bosco College of Teacher Education, Dimapur
An orientation programme on “Mental Health” was conducted for the teaching staff of Bosco
College of Teacher Education on 29th January 2026. The session was led by Dr. Fr. Joe
Mariadas, Director of Shalom Rehabilitation Centre, Chumoukedima, Nagaland, and
commenced at 1:00 PM.

The programme began with a warm welcome extended to the resource person by the Principal of
Bosco College of Teacher Education, Dr. Fr. Jose Joseph. Dr. Fr. Joe Mariadas delivered an
engaging and insightful session enriched with real-life examples that highlighted the importance
of mental well-being in both personal and professional life.
He emphasized that work-related stress is a significant indicator of one’s overall mental health
and urged the faculty members to be mindful of the factors that contribute to stress and burnout.
He encouraged the participants to maintain a healthy work–life balance and to actively engage in
mental health practices that promote self-care.
Interactive activities were conducted during the session. One activity involved a self-assessment
that helped faculty members reflect on their own mental health and gain deeper self-awareness.
Another activity focused on the learning process, emphasizing the roles of attention, retention,
and recall.

Dr. Fr. Joe Mariadas also strongly stressed the importance of emotional stability and
psychological wellness, explaining how these aspects significantly influence overall well-being
and professional effectiveness.
The programme concluded with a feedback session where the faculty members expressed their
gratitude to the speaker for his valuable insights and for helping them understand practical ways
to maintain sound mental health in their daily lives.
