On 5th June 2025, Bosco College of Teacher Education observed World Environment Day under the theme “Beating Plastic Pollution Globally”. The event was organized by the Ecological Club in collaboration with NSS Unit, led by Dr. Thejangutou Liegise, Mr. Dipak Baruah, and NSS Program Officer Ms. Arino Nakhro. Dr. Liegise chaired the session with a prayer and an introduction to the theme. Bichano Lotha, a 2nd semester student from the Ecological Club, delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the global impact of plastic waste and urged teacher trainees to lead by example in promoting sustainable living. Principal Dr. Fr. Jose Joseph addressed the gathering with thought-provoking insights on the misuse of natural resources and emphasized the importance of tree plantation for a sustainable future.
The event continued with a display of eco-friendly creations, including upcycled plastic bottles transformed into vases, organizers, and pen holders. A tree plantation drive and campus-wide cleanliness initiative followed, reinforcing the college’s commitment to environmental stewardship. In her vote of thanks, Dr. Liegise appreciated the active involvement of Eco Club members and their dedication to making the Earth a better place. The program successfully instilled awareness and responsibility among future educators to combat plastic pollution and care for creation.
